Creative Clothing Repair with Fast Fashion Therapy
15 October @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm£6
Learn beginners darning skills and a patching technique inspired by the Japanese art of ‘Boro’ to help you mend and upcycle old or damaged clothes.
The workshop will take you through the basics of these ‘visible mending’ inspired techniques and leave you feeling inspired to keep fixing at home! Both of the techniques only use hand sewing so can be easily carried on with at home or elsewhere. All materials and kit will be provided in the workshop. All ages are welcome although children will need to be accompanied by an adult as we will be using scissors and sharp needles.
Book your place at the workshop through our Eventbrite site link here
Fast Fashion Therapy is a collaboration between Streatham textile artist Eleanor and Sarah. It was born out of a desire to help others to get the skills needed to repair and rework their clothing, giving everyone the opportunity to have fun with fashion in a more sustainable way, regardless of their income. The practical workshop can hopefully act as a therapy for our collective addiction to fast fashion!
We have twice monthly, free workshops at The Create Place in Bethnal Green, in which you are invited to bring along your old or damaged clothing to get the advice, space and the correct equipment needed to fix them up.
