She has always had an interest in art, dating back to her primary school days. She vividly remembers painting as a child, and one of her paintings even ended up in the Headmaster’s office.
When she went to secondary school, she remembers her art teacher telling her parents that she was good at art and asking whether they had any idea which side of the family her talent came from. They didn’t know.
It was decades later that she says she reflected on what her teacher had told her parents. We asked her why it had taken her so long to pursue her passion for art.
She says, “Well, I had a lot of different interests. It was a gradual discovery. I think this is the best time for me to devote more time to my paintings.”
She went to art college, took various courses, and began to develop and perfect her skills. She realised that she particularly loved painting landscapes—beautiful scenery, trees in different colours, and interesting textures.
Even living in London, which can sometimes be described as a concrete jungle, she says she is able to see the beauty in nature. The trees, landscapes and natural surroundings continue to inspire her and provide her with ideas for her paintings.
