My ink pieces are created through a musical landscape that involves years spent travelling around Mexico, India, South-East Asia, New Zealand and my native Australia.

I never begin a piece with a finished form or structure in my mind, rather letting both my sub-conscience and the ink design flow in a fluid dreamlike state until the work itself announces its completion upon waking. I feel this meditative state of creating allows the piece to venture from culture to culture with more seamless, borderless waves, detaching the work from any pretentious “intentions” or pre-conceived styles. The figure that seems to resonate quite often in this process is that of the New Zealand Maori Koru – which symbolises the unfolding of the fern frond and the regeneration of spiritual life.
